  1. My Word

From the recording Love Has Its Price

Lyrics

I’m at a loss,
I lack gravitas,
No one listens to what I say

I struggle for words
I want to be heard
I need a verbal power-play.

Something, when said
Will turn yer heads
And I’ll say it with aplomb

‘N fire and flare
Then, I found it everywhere
I swear, it’s the f-bomb

It’s a noun, it’s a verb
Adjective, adverb
With ubiquitous utility

When I obscene it
You know I really mean it
With no uncertainty.

I’m bold!
I’m bad!
I’m edgy, I’m mad!
In a steady state flip of the bird..

Takes
No brains to use it
That’s why I choose it
My word, what a word,
My word.

I use it for talk
I use it for shock
With your tacit approval

With it I’m allowed,
In yer crowd,
No rejection, no removal

Oh, I’m a hellion,
In rebellion
With anger and aggression

I best portray it,
When I say’n say’n say it,
It’s the pinnacle of my expression.

It’s a noun, it’s a verb
Adjective, adverb
With ubiquitous utility

When I obscene it
You know I really mean it
With no uncertainty.

I’m bold!
I’m bad!
I’m edgy, I’m mad!
In a steady state flip of the bird..

Takes
No brains to use it
That’s why I choose it
My word, what a word,
My word.

A voiceless labio-dental fricative
A mid-central unrounded vowel,
Schwa!
Then, a voiceless velar plosive
A killer combination
In lotsa variations,

An indication of my sophistication,
I can’t live without it,
Such depth, such reach,
It permeates my speech.
I say, I scream, I shout it.

It’s a noun, it’s a verb
Adjective, adverb
With ubiquitous utility

When I obscene it
You know I really mean it
With no uncertainty.

I’m bold!
I’m bad!
I’m edgy, I’m mad!
In a steady state flip of the bird..

Takes
No brains to use it
That’s why I choose it
My word, what a word,
My word.

Takes no brains to use it
That’s why I choose it
My word,
I give you my word.

Track Notes
---------------------------------------
First, let me be clear. This song is 100% NOT biographical.

During my life, the coarseness of the American culture has been continually increasing. This song takes a jab at the ever-increasing use of the F-word. I don't need to add much more commentary, beyond what the song says and implies.

A quick note on the bridge. I break down the word into its 3 phonemes (speech sounds), to bring out the ridiculous amount of importance this little combination is given, where it is used so frequently in all aspects of speech.

On a side note: I could NOT get the AI to pronounce 'adjective' as 'ADD ja tiv', rather than 'ad JECT ive', I probably worked on faked spellings, punctuations and capitalization retries for two solid hours with no success. I finally gave up on trying.
